i play the ecto market quite a bit, have since day one pretty much.

now with the advent of using a item to take you to UW without having favor, i wonder if this can mess with the current ecto market.

It could if the drop rate or availability of these items are abundant. Or if this in any way takes place of holding halls to have favor. Then i see it affecting the ecto market adversly.

please share some thoughts and give some more info, because i dont have all of it just yet.

ps UW hard mode....lol its a tab bit fun

no it won't hurt the ecto market because less ectos are dropping in solo/duo farming.

I dont think its going to effect the ecto market too much.

for one you hav to have a scroll for everytime you want to go in so a farmer would have to have alot of these, and buying them is out of the question for farmers cause it would make it harder for them to get a profit. that and non 8 man groups get lower drop rates

Solo farming isn't going to be so popular anymore, so if anything yeah, they'll go up.

No it wolnt hurt the ecto market.

A quick run of the smites is more efficient timewise than a questing run, and because scroll drops are limited, it will be a waste of a scroll to do the most profitable UW/FoW runs which all revolve around abusing instances. Because the scroll drops of the scrolls are rare.. players in regions without favor will not be able to hit profitable farm areas (like the spider cave) that can be done quickly... rezone and then hit them again.

Instead, these players will likely save the scrolls for longer runs or questing runs, which are less efficient for farming purposes (if the group leaves or wipes, they may not be able to get back into the Fow/UW).

The above doesnt apply to the free acess to Deep / Urgoz scrolls, which will limit severly the town controlling alliance's ability to control acess to Deep/Urgoz.

Also, any serious farmer already had a europe account, and europe still has favor forever, so acess really isnt changed.

Ecto prices are already rising now that all drop rates are 12.5% normal yield (I just check the rare materials merchant).

The raw material generation base (ecto + other rare materials) is effectively gone. Reduced monster drops = less player buying power = higher overhead when buying salvage + ID kits, etc...

It is only a matter of time before the ecto economy completley crashes (assuming the loot-scaling change is not backed out). There is little point in gathering/hoarding/supporting ecto since its supply is now severely limited, and there is no longer any certainty that people can gather enough to form a full suit of FoW armor.

GG, this update just convinced my wife to let me buy a PS3. She's pretty unhappy that she can no longer purchase Vabbi armor in light of this update.

You guys are missing something important here. Current drop rates are based on an ecto drop rate nerf a long time ago because of solo farming UW. I would strongly suspect that ANET will change and if anything increases the drop rates of ectoplasm in Underworld back to per nerf drop rates.

Also the anti farming code that reduces the amount of drops you get for going in an area over and over has been removed.

I got vabbian armor for my dervish by hitting the keyless chests and salvaging jeweled/ruby items. No solo farming. No ectos.

The ecto market is going to boom because of this. Sure they made favor free access but then they nerfed the drop rates. So you end up with the same demand and less of a supply which means higher prices. Of course for people trying to make their fortune off the ecto market now this sucks but for people sitting on a stack or four congrats you're richer now. I'm going to personally sit on mine for awhile. Unless they make a pretty drastic drop rate change then ecto will hit Prophecy prices, you know back when FoW armor meant something.

Just the chest locations... I'm already familiar with expert-salvaging with titles + highly salvageable mods. Wiki searches came up empty.

Yup. There are scrolls that drop in Hard Mode that allow a group to bypass favor.

Not that many people will care. I dare say 90% of the people going into those places are there to farm (or should I say, were).

Ok, next question. How do these scrolls work? If I don't have a scroll, can I join a party where the leader has a scroll and get in. Or does everyone in the party have to have a scroll? Can I buy a scroll in town from the scroll trader, or only by finding one?

Oh, this is gonna be soooo cool. Finally they listened to us and created a way to bypass favor. I can hardly wait til I get off work to try all this.

Maybe They gonna reduce the requirement for FoW armour.And since hard mode is here I suspect that there will be more Ecto per run as Monsterous fang and calw got a good drop rate buff as well.
